Why does a shop window display need more brightness than a normal screen?
Behind glass the image competes with daylight and with reflections on the pane. A regular indoor panel runs at roughly 300 to 500 nits and looks washed out from the street when the sun hits. High-brightness displays start much higher: the SMARTENIC Vision HB delivers 2,500 nits and stays readable on the glass in daylight.
What does high-brightness mean on a display?
High-brightness describes panels built for environments with a lot of ambient light. Luminance is measured in nits (candela per square metre). For context: indoor displays sit at roughly 300 to 500 nits, while at least 2,500 nits is recommended for shop windows and outdoor areas. The SMARTENIC Vision HB sits in that range at 2,500 nits.
Can a normal display be placed in a shop window?
Technically yes, sensibly usually not. An indoor panel at 300 to 500 nits is hard to make out from the street in daylight — which is exactly when people walk past. A shop window display therefore works at a higher luminance. If you only play content in the evening and the window faces away from the sun, an indoor display can do; with sun on the glass it cannot.
Does a shop window display have to be weatherproof?
No, as long as it hangs indoors behind the pane. The SMARTENIC Vision HB is an indoor device and therefore carries no IP protection rating. As soon as the display sits on the outside of the facade, under a canopy or in an open-sided passage, it needs a weatherproof enclosure — that is what the outdoor range with IP65 is for.
How is a shop window display mounted and supplied with content?
The SMARTENIC Vision HB is designed for wall mounting and needs a load-bearing surface plus a socket within reach. Connectivity runs over Wi-Fi. Content comes from SMARTENIC Control: build a playlist, set the time slots, publish from the browser. That lets you change a window campaign daily without anyone swapping printed posters.
How much does a shop window display cost?
Price on request. The cost drivers are: diagonal, required brightness, touch versus playback only, quantity, plus mounting, electrical connection, CMS licence and the agreed service scope.
